Question 1

What Is a Temperature-Controlled Courier?

Accepted Answer

A temperature-controlled courier collects and delivers goods that must stay within a set temperature range throughout transit. At AMW Couriers, that means refrigerated vehicles, real-time temperature monitoring and drivers who understand cold chain handling, so chilled, frozen and ambient consignments arrive in the same condition they left your premises.

Question 2

What Is the Cold Chain and Why Does It Matter?

Accepted Answer

The cold chain is the unbroken sequence of temperature-controlled storage and transport that keeps perishable or sensitive goods within their safe range from origin to destination. A single break, such as a delay on a loading bay, can spoil food or compromise medicines. That is why cold chain logistics depends on monitored vehicles and as few handovers as possible.

Question 3

What Is the Difference Between Chilled, Frozen and Ambient Delivery?

Accepted Answer

Chilled delivery keeps goods between 0°C and 8°C, which suits fresh food, dairy and many medical supplies. Frozen delivery holds goods at -18°C and below for frozen food and specialist laboratory materials. Ambient delivery maintains a stable +2°C to +25°C for products that need regulated conditions but not refrigeration.

Question 4

Can You Provide a Same-Day Refrigerated Courier?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our same-day delivery service is available for temperature-sensitive consignments, with collection and delivery completed within hours under monitored conditions. For the most urgent loads, our priority delivery option provides a dedicated vehicle travelling directly to the destination with no other stops.

Question 5

How Is the Temperature Monitored During Transport?

Accepted Answer

Our refrigerated vehicles have real-time temperature monitoring alongside GPS tracking, so the load compartment is checked continuously from collection to delivery. If you need confirmation of the conditions your goods were kept in, let us know when you book and we will talk you through the records available.

Question 6

What Types of Goods Need Refrigerated Transport?

Accepted Answer

Refrigerated transport is used for fresh and frozen food, beverages, dairy, flowers, medicines, vaccines, clinical samples, laboratory materials and some chemicals or cosmetics. If your product carries a storage temperature on its label or specification sheet, it will usually need a temperature-controlled courier rather than a standard van.

Question 7

Do You Deliver Medical and Pharmaceutical Supplies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We transport medicines, clinical supplies and laboratory samples for healthcare organisations, pharmacies and research teams through our healthcare courier services. Tell us the required temperature range and any handling or documentation requirements when you request a quote, and we will match the right vehicle and service to the consignment.

Question 8

Can You Transport Frozen Food and Chilled Produce for Businesses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with food manufacturers, wholesalers, caterers and retailers to move fresh, chilled and frozen products between production sites, warehouses, stores and events. Our food and beverage logistics service supports one-off urgent frozen deliveries as well as regular planned runs.

Question 9

Is Refrigerated Van Hire the Same as a Temperature-Controlled Courier?

Accepted Answer

No. With refrigerated van hire, you rent the vehicle and take on the driving, loading, route planning and temperature checks yourself. A temperature-controlled courier provides the vehicle, a trained driver and monitoring as one service, so you can hand over the consignment and track it to delivery.

Question 10

Can You Handle Regular Temperature-Controlled Deliveries?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For businesses with recurring chilled or frozen movements, we can set up scheduled deliveries or dedicated contract runs. The same vehicle type, timings and handling procedures apply every time, which keeps your cold chain consistent and your planning simple.

Question 11

Do You Offer Temperature-Controlled Delivery Across the UK?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We collect and deliver temperature-sensitive goods nationwide, with our operations based in Stourbridge near the M5, M6 and M42 interchange. Your consignment stays on one AMW vehicle from collection to delivery with no third-party depot transfers. This removes the handovers where cold chain breaks most often happen.

Question 12

How Much Does a Temperature-Controlled Courier Cost?

Accepted Answer

The price depends on the temperature range, distance, consignment size and weight, how quickly it needs to arrive, and whether the vehicle is dedicated or shared. Because every cold chain job is different, we quote each delivery individually. Request a free quote with your collection and delivery postcodes for an accurate price.
